Dickey Chapelle was the first Women War Photojournalist for WWII and the Vietnam War. Despite many attempts by various generals and soldiers to get her off the front lines, she pushed forward proving her worth. Chapelle inspired young women to not let a man define what you can do.
Chapelle was willing to go where no photojournalist had gone before-into battle. She photographed images of men at the front lines, depicting the gruesome truths of every war.
Despite her love and passion for her work, Chapelle hated war. She wanted to show the cruelty and pain to the people in the hopes it would end all wars.
Chapelle won numerous awards for her work as a war photojournalist and female figure. She made appearances at women's clubs as the guest speaker and wrote her book, "What's A Women Doing Here?"
